Who this notice is for
Our other privacy policy covers the people who sign up to use EsportsOdds. This notice is different: it is for players and team staff whose public competitive data appears in our product. We did not collect that data from you directly, so UK data-protection law (Article 14 of the UK GDPR) asks us to tell you, in a notice like this one, what we hold and what you can do about it.
Who we are
EsportsOdds (esportsodds.gg) is the data controller for this information. You can reach us about anything in this notice at phil@esportsodds.gg, or use the request channel in section 9. We are a UK-based business and process this data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we hold
Factual, competition-related information only: a player's in-game handle, and where publicly known their name, nationality, in-game role, current team, and on-server performance statistics (things like kills, deaths, ratings and map results). We also keep an internal technical identifier to match records across sources; it is never shown to anyone.
We deliberately do not hold or display player photographs or likenesses, contact details, or any non-competition personal information, and we hold no special-category data (nothing about health, beliefs, and so on).
Where it comes from
We obtain this information from publicly accessible esports match-data and statistics websites — the same public results, rosters and statistics anyone can see online. It comes from those publicly accessible sources, not from you and not from any private or restricted source.
Why we process it, and our lawful basis
We provide a factual esports data and statistics product — match, team and player performance data delivered through an API and dashboard. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): running that product is a genuine commercial interest, the data is intrinsic to it, and we have weighed it against your rights. Because this is public, competition-only, facts-based data about professional players competing publicly — with no photographs, no private information, and no editorial profiling — we consider that interest is not overridden. You can object to this at any time (section 9), and we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue.
Who can see it
This data is delivered to our paying customers — through the API and inside the authenticated, paid dashboard. It sits behind login and payment; we do not publish player pages on the open web or have them indexed by search engines. We do not sell your data as a standalone product and we place no advertising trackers on it.
Sending data outside the UK
Some of our customers are outside the UK, so this data may be accessed abroad. Where a destination is not covered by UK "adequacy" rules (or, for the US, the UK–US Data Bridge), we put an appropriate safeguard in place — the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, together with a transfer risk assessment — before the data is made available there.
How long we keep it
We keep competition data for as long as it is relevant to the esports record — broadly, while a player is competitively active and for a reasonable period afterwards so historical matches and statistics stay accurate. If you exercise the rights below, we act on your request as described.
Your rights, and how to use them
You can ask us to:
- See the data we hold about you, or get a copy of it;
- Correct anything inaccurate, or complete anything partial;
- Erase it, or restrict how we use it; and
- Object to us processing it at all (because we rely on legitimate interests).
To make any of these requests, email privacy@esportsodds.gg or use our contact form(choose "Privacy & data") — tell us the in-game handle and team so we can find the right records. We acknowledge requests within 30 days and aim to resolve them within one month, as the rules require. Because we hold no contact details for players, we rely on the law's "disproportionate effort" provision for telling you proactively — this public notice, our request channel, and keeping the data minimal and facts-only are the safeguards we apply instead.
If you think we have got something wrong, you have the right to complain to us first at the address above — we will look into it and tell you the outcome — and you can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office. We do not make any automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
